Travel the globe through art! Explore unique art forms throughout history and geographic location. You might touch down somewhere in Africa, aboriginal Australia, the Native American West, or even the Swiss Alps! Who knows? All we guarantee is creative fun! Fee: $125

Basic Drawing & Painting
Second Term/Grades 4–8, 9:30–10:30 am
Enjoy figure drawing, perspective, nature, shade and shadow drawing, utilizing charcoal, pen and ink, colored pencil, and various media including acrylics and watercolor. Fee: $125


Fine Arts
First & Second Terms/Grades 4–8, 8:30–9:30 am
Experience and experiment with a variety of media this summer. From clay construction to printmaking, and from painting to collage, you’ll discover the excitement of hands-on art! Fee: $125 per term

Great Artists
First Term/Grades 4–8, 8:30–9:30 am
In this class, we will choose some of the greatest artists in history and then we will learn their special techniques for success. How did Degas draw those ballerinas? How did Japanese printmakers create masterpieces for the ages? How did Native American craftsmen make their stunning jewelry? We’ll learn and create our own impressionist gardens just like Monet! Fee: $125

Lights, Digital Camera, Action!
First & Second Terms
Grades 4–5, 10:30 am–12:30 pm
Grades 6–8, 8:30–10:30 am
Release your creativity as you and your friends make your own short movie! This is a super opportunity to become a screen writer, a director, and a cinematographer as you plot your story, write the script, scout your locations, and give life to your characters. Students will learn techniques for video production and editing, and with the help of some cool software, the class will produce a finished CD of your movie. Kids who enjoy creative writing, storytelling, and gadgets will love this class! Who knows, you might find yourself showing at the Sundance Film Festival! Fee: $200 per term

Multimedia Sculpture
Second Term/Grades 4–8, 9:30–10:30 am
Three-dimensional art forms involve a variety of media. Clay, found objects, and even paper provide exciting materials to sculpt in this fun class! Fee: $125

A Night at the Improv!
First & Second Terms

Grades 6–8 , 10:30–11:30 am

Get a taste of the Theater as our creative staff from the CSG Summer Stock Theater conducts a special hour of improvisational acting classes. Our activities will be based on the work of Viola Spolin, founder of the comedy troupe Second City in Chicago, and creator of many improv games. We will also participate in stage combat and “theater sports,” which emphasize the actor’s main tools : body and voice. Each week we’ll have fun with what we havelearned with a performance of “Friday Morning Live.” Fee: $125 per term

Photography
First Term/Grades 4–5
Second Term/Grades 6–8, 8:30–10:30 am

Explore creative visual expression through photography. Experience hands-on camera work in black and white and the technical side of the photo lab. Please supply a 35 mm camera(a limited number of cameras are available with a refundable security deposit). Fee: $200

Printmaking
First Term/Grades 4–8, 9:30–10:30 am
Can a vegetable be a printmaker’s tool? Have you ever created an image with string? Have fun exploring these and a world of possibilities in this printmaking workshop. Fee: $125

Puppet Making
First Term/Grades 4–8, 9:30–10:30 am
Realize the powerful influence of puppets in our culture. Design your very own personal puppet. Build it, give it costuming, and create a personality (from the elbow down, of course!). Fee: $125
